If you've just bought a new TV, or are rescanning to get NewsChannel 5, please follow the instructions below. Have a different brand of TV? Head to our antenna home and select the model of TV you own.

Each TV manufacturer uses a different term to describe a rescan. Most Element TV's call their rescan function 'Auto Scan'

  • If your Sharp TV's channel scan has a problem, you can often work around it by scanning manually. Suppose, for example, that the auto scan missed a channel that you know is part of your package. You can use the 'Manual Scan' option in the 'Channels' menu to add it yourself.

TRY THESE FIRST. If you've been into your TV's settings before, these instructions should help you rescan your TV.

1. Press the Menu button
2. Choose 'TV Settings'
3. Choose 'Channel'
4. In the channel menu, make sure the top option says 'Air'
5. Choose 'Auto Scan'

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELEMENT ANDROID TVs. These are from Element's support page.

1. Press the HOME button.
2. Scroll down to the inputs section then select CHANNELS.
3. Press the menu button on the remote and move to TV options then select SETTINGS (last option).
4. Then go to Channel sources and choose CHANNELS. Lastly, choose AIR/CABLE and run AUTO-SCAN.

Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the “Setup” menu option. Press “Enter.” 4
Highlight “CH Setup.” Press “Enter.”

Highlight “Air/Cable.” Use the arrow buttons to select “Air” to rescan for over-the-air broadcast TV signals. In order to scan for broadcast TV signals you must have a TV antenna connected to the TV’s RF “Ant/Cable” input terminal. 6
Select “Channel Search” to initiate the automatic channel scan operation.

Check the back panel of the digital TV receiver to determine the best cable to use. An HDMI cable will provide the best picture and sound, with only one cable to connect. HDMI jacks are six-sided with 19 holes for connection pins inside the jack, arranged in three rows. If the digital TV receiver does not have an HDMI jack, use component video and audio cables with color-coded plugs and skip to Step 3. 2
Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT jack on the digital TV receiver and the HDMI IN jack on the Aquos HDTV by inserting each plug with the wider end turned upward. Sponsored Links

Connect RGB component video cables to the Red, Green and Blue Video OUT jacks on the digital TV receiver if an HDMI jack is unavailable. 4
Attach the other ends of the cables to the color-coded Video IN jacks on the back of the Aquos HDTV. 5
Plug a set of red and white audio cables into the right and left Audio OUT jacks on the digital TV receiver. 6
